James L. Dozier was born September 26, 1921 and passed away October 4, 2009. He was a veteran of the US Army-Air Corp during WWII, member of American Legion, member of First United Methodist Church of Forney, and a Mason. He never met a stranger. He was born in the country, the son of a farmer in a large but close, caring, and respected family when times were hard. He was an outdoor lover of fishing, hunting and camping. He loved to paint and generously gave his art to those who appreciated his talent and the ability to partray the outdoor life on canvas. Survived by children; Steve Dozier and wife Janie, Glenna Beth Morris and Lisa Wallace and husband Colton; grandchildren, Stephanie Justice and husband Greg, Mandy Painter and husband Tony, Jennifer Griffith and husband Jimmy Wayne and Jenna Morris; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Mason, Griffin, Nikolas, Maggie, Cord, and Chase ; sister Helen Marie Stark and husband Ollie and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by wife Nettie Jo; brothers Lewis Dozier and Brice Dozier; sisters Mildred Jones and Joyce Evelyn Dozier and grandson, Joshua Taylor. Services 10:00 AM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Forney with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney. Visitation 6-8:00 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the F.U.M.C., 414 W. Broad Street, Forney, TX 75126, (972-564-0500) for completion of the childrens’ building.
