Claudette Webb McCarter obituary
- [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 21 Aug 2008.
WEBB, DARRYEL LYNN 59, of Johnson City, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 18, 2008, while surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Roy F. and Margie H. Rose Webb. Mr. Webb was a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Young High School, Knoxville in 1967. He attended ETSU where he majored in art and met his sweetheart, Barbara. Mr. Webb was an insurance agent for thirty-five years and formerly worked for AFLAC. He taught insurance classes for over fifteen years. He was the owner and instructor of EZ Insurance Education. Known as a loving, Christian man with a great sense of humor, he enjoyed making others laugh. He was always there for Barbara and was her "knight in shining armor," and will be greatly missed. He was the proud and loving father of one son, Ryan Logan Webb. Together, we enjoyed a fun, fulfilled life. Mr. Webb enjoyed antique car shows and was an artist and painter. He also enjoyed singing gospel music. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara S. Webb of Johnson City; one son, Ryan Logan Webb of Johnson City and his significant other, Steffi Asmann of Germany; twin sister, Carol Ann Miller and husband Charles Miller, Jr. of Bluff City; and sister, Claudette McCarter and husband Carl of Sevierville; brother-in-law, Luther D. "L.D." Roark and wife Ruth of Gray. He was the devoted, caring son-in-law of Flora Roark of Gray; special nieces and nephews: Bryan C. Miller, Neena Swigert and husband Richard, Sonya Ridinger and husband Jerry, Cynthia Lethco and husband Bobby, Renee Whaley and husband Jeff, Briana Gardner and husband Mike; several other great nieces and nephews, and precious aunts and uncles in Knoxville. The family wishes to express special recognition for the following people: Richard Street for his friendship and care that he gave Darryel during his illness; William A. Wiley, IV, Carlos Rosales, and Joey Bowman for their dedication to Darryel and his family; Preacher Kyker for his uplifting spirit; Keith and Shirley McCurry for their faithful loving Christian service; Dr. Paul Brown for his care and support to Darryel and his family; staff of the 5200 wing of JCMC. We greatly appreciate the Christian love, prayers, and all the help from our neighbors, friends, and church family. Darryel will be greatly missed by his wife, son, family, and friends, and his little house-guard pet, Applejack. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM at Tetrick Funeral Home, Johnson City. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Kyker and Evang. Charles "Toonie" Cash. The body will be lying in state for viewing on Saturday before the funeral. Music will be under the direction of Stephanie Fletcher Cole. Burial will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be friends from Brownes Mill Auto Tech and other friends. Darryel 's wish is that in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations be sent to the Mount Sinai Medical School fund for R. Logan Webb, c/o First Bank and Trust, 1185 N. State of Franklin, Johnson City, TN 37602.
