FRANKLIN, MARIE ELIZABETH VALENTINE born Oct. 22, 1913, departed this life to join her Heavenly Father on May 31, 2008. She had waited all her life for this day. She will be met at the Golden Gates by her mother Sara Narcie Maples Valentine. I can hear grandmother say, "Marie, what took you so long to get here. We have so many things to do." Also preceding, her father, Clinton L. Valentine Sr.; brothers, Bill, Edward, Charlie, Roy, Walter, Fred, Jessie, and Clinton Valentine Jr.; daughter-in-law of 52 years Wilma Jean Brewer Franklin; grandson, Toby Dean Franklin; and former husband, Earl L. Franklin. Left behind to celebrate her life are brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Rose Valentine; son, Earl L. Franklin and wife Shirley of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law Donald A. and Judy Rushing Franklin of Franklin, TN; her confer, her joy, caregiver, and always best friend, her special daughter, Marian Franklin Moses; daughter and son-in-law, Joan Franklin and L.C. Jones of Townsend; grandsons, Michael L. Franklin, J. Mark Moses, David Todd, Eric Jon Spoon, and David A. Franklin; granddaughters, Cathy J. Moses Tuck, Melanie Franklin Edwards, Melinda Franklin Speece; five great grandsons and five great granddaughters. Marie worked as a medical technician at Lake Shore Hospital for 20 years. She was one of the original members of Middlebrook Pike Baptist Church and later joined Park West Baptist Church. She lived a life of hard work, simple needs, and never asked for anything for herself. She was devoted to her family and was always grateful to God her children were all saved and in church. Mother's wishes were not to receive flowers or friends. She will be laid to rest in a private burial service at Edge Wood Cemetery with her children and a prayer. Weaver Funeral Home is proud to serve the Franklin family.
