WALKER, STELLA KATHERINE 69, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 11, 2008 peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of Mount Airy United Methodist Church and retired from the Hamblen County School System where she was a Teacher's Assistant at Witt Elementary for 26 years. She departed this life with grace that characterized her entire life. Stella will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and a friend who loved life with a sense of humor. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Luther & Bernice Laster. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Richard L. Walker; daughter, Lea Ann Walker of Knoxville; son, Kent Walker of Madison, Wisconsin; sisters, Evelyn (Jack) Lawson of Knoxville and Lynn (Sam) Blair of Morristown; brothers, Ralph (Rita) Laster of Morristown and Larry Laster of Morristown; several nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. A special "Thank You" to Adventa Hospice, "Angels" Tracy Thayer, RN and Kim Conary, CNA. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday, January 13, in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 pm, with Rev. Bob Schooley officiating. Friends and family will meet 11 am Monday at Jarnigan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Adventa Hospice, 1423 W.
