TALENTINO, JOSEPH R., age 59 of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004 following a long courageous fight with prostate cancer. Joe spent his entire career in the field of construction and real estate development. He was involved in the development of more than 30 shopping malls, most notably the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Joe's hobbies included photography, woodworking and motorcycle riding.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bettye Talentino; his brother, Tom Talentino, and grandson, Hunter Bittle. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Melinda; son, Joseph R. Talentino, Jr. of St. Mary's Georgia; daughter, Renae Elkington of Abingdon, Virginia; daughter, Melanie Bittle of Seymour, Tennessee; son, Joshua Talentino of Birmingham, daughter, Gabriella Talentino of Birmingham; brothers, Mike Talentino and Kevin Talentino and sister, Pam Patterson, all of Atlanta metro area; half sisters, Donna Baker of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, Leisa Dargis of Delray Beach, FL and Angela Ramos of Milford, Ohio; grandchildren, Emma and Max Talentino, Chelsie Bittle and Eric Elkington.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, AL on Tuesday, August 10, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Rick Ousley officiating. Interment will be immediately after at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon 2 hours prior to the service at the church.
