Kenneth “Dale” Fox, age 79, of Newport passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at NHC HealthCare, Fort Sanders in Knoxville. Dale retired from Jefferson Cocke Gas Utility after 32 years of service and Morristown Hamblen Hospital after 20 years of service.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Bonnie Fox; sisters, Geneva Heller, Mildred Sollberger, Blanche Smith, Venia Smith and Omeda Holt; and brother, Thomas Fox.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Jane Fox of Newport; daughters, Vicki (Charley) Layman of Knoxville and Karen (Anthony) Smitherman of Knoxville; brothers, Carl (Dottie) Fox of Athens, Georgia; sister, Reva Dean (Jack) Rice of Bybee; grandson, Bradford Layman of Knoxville; several very special nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Special thanks to his doctors, Mable and the staff of NHC for their excellent care of him.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Manes Funeral Home with Rev. John Hale officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday prior to funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, Newport or Newport Cancer Support Group c/o Michelle Sexton.
