SANDS, MARY GWYN STAIR - age 71, Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Monday March 10, 2014. Mary Gwyn was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Mary E. Massey and the late James H. Stair on Oct. 17, 1942. Mary graduated from Young High School Knoxville, TN as DAR and with honors. She married the late Gerald L. Sands in September of 1960. Mary worked for Bellsouth, Harben Properties and was Owner of Cartoon Classics. She retired from Gunold & Stickma to follow her lifelong passion of caring and nurturing children for others in her home. She is survived by children Lisa Sands, Gerry Sands and, Gina Sands ; grandchildren Justin Holsomback and Elizabeth Chatham and siblings Sue Connatser, Stephen Massey and Karen Massey. A celebration of Mary 's life for friends and family will take place on Sunday March 16th at the Historic Southern Railway Station, 306 Depot Ave. from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM. Danny Davis will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 2275 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Lake Wylie, SC is serving the family of Mrs. Sands.
