SANDS, HAZEL MAPLES age 90, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008. Mrs. Sands was a graduate of Young High School. She was employed by the Knox County Board of Education for many years before going to work as a receptionist at University of Tennessee Medical Center where she retired in 1982. Mrs. Sands is preceded in death by her husband, W.F. Sands ; sister, Wanda Faye Dunn; sons, Gerald, Dale, and Monty Sands ; parents, Charles and Betsie Maples ; brothers, Clyde Maples and Jimmy Maples, Sr. She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Betty Maples and brother Theodore Maples ; grandchildren, Lisa, Gerry, Scotty, Gina, Amanda, and Deborah Ann; great grandchildren, Dustin, Justin, Samantha, Elizabeth, Trenton, PJ, and Haley. Family will receive friends Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 3-5pm at Berry Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 11:00am at the Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at Stock Creek Cemetery. A musical tribute will be presented by Mrs. Sand's nieces and nephews, John Mark, Melissa, Melanie, and Maria. The family would like to thank Byron, Janet, Wanda, and Kenneth Dunn.
