James Lynn Hill, age 72, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of 49 years, Ellen Hill, on July 18, 2012. He was born in Claiborne County, Tennessee, and had lived in Kingsport since 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Mason. Lynn had retired from the Data Processing Department at Eastman after 30 years of service.
He attended Cassidy United Methodist Church.
One of his favorite things to do was to play bluegrass music, especially at the Anderson House in Blountville on Friday nights. Lynn was also preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Eva C. Leabow Hill and a sister, Anne Brooks.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Hill and wife Laura of Powell, TN, Barry Hill and wife Jackie of Blountville, Scott Hill and wife Kolette of Sevierville, TN; six grandchildren, Brad, Nick, Lexi, Levi, Gretta, Abraham; one brother, Bill Hill of Fairborn, OH; one sister, Bobbie Walker and husband Bill of New Tazewell, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Saturday, July 21, from 5 until 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services at 7 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Griffin officiating. Graveside services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Lynn never met a stranger, and had a way of making you feel special, and will be missed by all who knew him.
