Mildred Marie McCarter Seiber, 75, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
Born July 27, 1933, in Oliver Springs, she was a lifelong resident of this area. A homemaker, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael McCarter; parents, Robert and Rosie Russell Vann; granddaughter, Nicole "Nikki" McCarter; brothers, the Rev. Freddie Vann and Kenneth Vann; and sister, Odessa Wilson.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Rozella McCarter, Carolyn Sue Sigler and Jim Nester, all of Oliver Springs, and Daranda and Michael Andrews of Clinton; sons and daughter-in-law, Earnest and Angie McCarter of Wartburg, Stephen McCarter of Oliver Springs and Dennis Lee McCarter of Oak Ridge; 17 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Irvin Vann, Charles Franklin "Clymer" Vann and Robert Jr. and Linda Vann, all of Oliver Springs; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys Houston and Ida and Jay Rogers, all of Kingston, Margaret and Clarence Green and Naomi and Jackie Seiber, all of Oliver Springs.
Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, in Sharp Funeral Home chapel, Oliver Springs, with the Rev. Ralph Wilson and the Rev. Darryl Vann officiating. Graveside service and burial were at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Indian Creek Cemetery.
