Joseph Edward "Jo Jo" Russell, age 11, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at his home in Oliver Springs.
He was a fifth grade student at Norwood Elementary School and was the twin brother of Sammy Russell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cindy Russell; and grandfathers, Frank Russell and Eddie Lester; great-uncles, Arnold Russell and Ricky Lester, all of Oliver Springs.
He is survived by his father, Frankie "Bubba" Russell; twin brother, Sammy Russell; grandparents, Betty and Dallas Rapier of Oliver Springs and Debra Lester of New York; uncles, Robert Russell and Mark Lester and wife, Angie; aunts, Katie Benbenek and husband, Daniel, Elizabeth Harvey and husband, James, all of Oliver Springs; great-aunt and uncle, Angie and Brian Thacker of Oak Ridge; cousins, Mackensie, Baily, and Levi Russell, Kaylen, Autum, and Jake Benbenek, Amber and Savannah Harvey, Connor and Reagan Lester; special cousins, Dallas and Dustin Cooper of Wartburg; special teaching assistant, Mrs. Robin Smith; special friends, John and Diane Martin.
Thank you to Mr. Patton, staff and students of Norwood Elementary School, the Roane County Shriners Club, (the late Bill Sheldon), Clinch Valley Shriners Club, The Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Ky., Dr. Clifford James and the staff of Kids Central Pediactrics for all their love, caring and support.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, Feb. 4, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cove Road Primitive Baptist Church, Oliver Springs.
The funeral will be held at the church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Elder Thomas Vananda and Elder Gary Massengill officiating. Interment will follow in Indian Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cove Road Baptist Church, 1328 Cove Lane, Oliver Springs, TN 37840, or Shriners Hospital, Lexington, Ky., or any local mason or shrine association.
