Michael Covey Kittredge passed away May 25, 2017 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Born in San Antonio, Texas, November 1, 1938 to Thurman and Bonnah Covey, she remained a true and proud Texan wherever her travels led. Forever a student and always a teacher, she was eager to share her knowledge, observations and passion for life. Michael graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1956 and from the University of Texas in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in education. She initiated and remained a lifelong member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
For the last 27 years, Michael was a successful small business owner. Together with her son, they owned The Silver Tree in Gatlinburg. Family meant the world to Michael. Her life became enriched with the arrival of her grandchildren bringing her much happiness and joy. She cherished her friends made throughout her life and treasured the memories from time spent together.
Michael was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Clarence Kittredge; her father and mother; and a brother, Shan Covey.
Surviving Michael are her children, Leigh and Eddie Robinson, Steven and Jennifer Kittredge, and Lael and Harald Smit. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Kittredge; and brother, Phil Covey.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals For Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) or Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts (www.arrowmont.org).
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Harrell Funeral Home on 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX.
Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX.
