November 2, 1943 - January 16, 2018 Bill H. Mason, 74, of Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the loving husband of Helen Hill Mason for 55 years and the son of the late Fred Mason and Ruby Dailey Mason. He was a graduate of Young High School in Knoxville, enjoyed fishing, cattle farming and was a Tennessee Vols fan. He faithfully served on many boards in Cherokee County which included Limestone College, Cherokee Children’s Home, YMCA and First National Bank, where he was a former board chairman. Mr. Mason was owner/operator of Bill Mason Enterprises (McDonalds) and a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg. In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Greg D. Mason and wife, Dana of Chesnee; a daughter, Sherrie Mason Wright and husband, Kelly of Inman; two sisters, Caroline Long of Seymour, TN and Betty McCurry of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, Josh Mason and wife, Amanda, Brent Mason, Kayla Mason, Seth Mason, Grant Wright and Olivia Wright; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Hayden Mason. Mr. Mason was preceded in death by four brothers, Estel Mason, Frank Mason, Lynn Mason and Gary Mason. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Boy’s Farm, P.O. Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108 or Limestone College, “Library Fund”, 1115 College Drive, Gaffney, SC 29340 or Cherokee County Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1896, Gaffney, SC 29342. Mr. Mason will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Blakely Funeral Home. A private service will be held for the family.
