Lawrence "Babe" Richmond, 69, died Saturday at his residence. A lifetime resident of Smithville, he was a minister and a self-employed timber contractor. He was a member of the Common Ground Community Church and a former pastor of Lake Charles Full Gospel Temple, Bono Bethel and Stone Community Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Richey Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Durene Smith Richmond of the home; sons, Tim Richmond of Walnut Ridge, Timmy Morgan of Light and David Richmond of Lynn; daughters, Tammie Steele of Marion, Deena Casady and Tonya Barber of Jonesboro and Kendra Robbins of Lynn; brothers, O'Neal Richmond of Lynn, Jay C. Richmond of Cord and Jim Richmond of Jonesboro; a sister, Dee Anna Daggett of Wall, Miss.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in House-Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge with George Glenn Jr. and Timmy Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Ward Cemetery at Saffell. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be O'Neal Richmond , Jay Richmond , Jim Richmond , Joey Richmond , John Richmond and Josh Huff.
