Dr. David Scott Ponder, 39, of Alicia passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, in Walnut Ridge. He was born in Jonesboro on Nov. 22, 1976, to Terry Edward and Susan Williams Ponder. He married Valerie Sturgill on Dec. 27, 1997, at White's Creek, Tenn. He was pastor of Arbor Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Edward Ponder. Survivors include his wife, Valerie of the home; daughter, Debra Lynne Ponder of the home; mother, Susan Williams Ponder of Imboden; countless relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Tim Campbell and Blaine Liscomb officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Wesley Crisler, Drew Tillman, Josh Graddy, Bradley Williams, Peyton Tillman, Rylee Lewis, Shaun Allen and Neal Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Williams, Seth Williams, Clint Ponder, Nick Ponder and members of the Social Band Association and Lawrence County Ministerial Alliance.
