  [S142] Newspaper Article, 14 Mar 2013. Paul Edgar Barrett, 85, of Batesville died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at a local nursing home. He was born December 10, 1927 in Batesville and was the son of Fred B. Barrett and Myrtle Lee (Allen) Barrett. He worked as the plant superintendent at Galloway Sand and Gravel until his retirement. He was an alderman for the city of Moorefield for 37 years and served on the board of directors for Rock Moore Water Association. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 60 years. He enjoyed family gatherings and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Rexene (Bell) Barrett; a son, Paul David Barrett; two daughters, Marilyn Goodwin and Margaret Magar, all of Batesville; six grandchildren, Benjamin Goodwin, Jonathan Goodwin, Hannah White, Alicyn Goff, Emily Barrett, and Lindsey Barrett; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Crabtree of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl Barrett; and a sister, Elfreeda Murphy. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Mike Hoggard. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
