MSG (Ret) Fred M. Bell, 68, of Columbus, GA died at his residence Saturday, May 03, 2008. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL on Thursday, May 8, 2008 according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. this evening at the funeral home. MSG (Ret) Bell was born October 22, 1939 in Batesville, AK son of the late Rex E. Bell and Buena Huskiey Bell. He had retired from the U. S. Army after several years of honorable service to his country. During his military service he served in the Korean Conflict and received numerous commendations and honors. He enjoyed retirement and the free time it afforded him. Mr. Bell will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie E. Bell and a brother, Larry Bell. Survivors include his children, Alex (Christina) Bell of Sachet, TX and Veronica (Mike) McMillion of Smiths, AL; step daughter, Dianne (Mike) McCallister of Mauk, GA; step-son, Floyd (Gloria) O'Hern, Columbus, GA; siblings, Max (Jimmie) Bell of Arizona, Ronnie (Diane) Bell, Rexene (Paul) Barrett , Wanda (William) Foster all of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Vicky Bell of Kansas; grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Atcheson, James O'Hern, Brandon, Brittany, and Blake McMillion, Adam, Victoria, and Alexis Bell; great-grandchildren, Ada and Kayla Atcheson; several nieces, nephews and friends.
