C. Tilden Rodgers, 84, of Zellwood, FL formerly of West Memphis, AR passed away March 20, 2007 at his residence in Florida. Mr. Rodgers, a retired farmer and businessman was born in Satartia, MS to the late Joseph Leonard & Mary Alice (Roberts) Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of First Baptist Church Sweetwater and a former member of First Baptist & Calvary Baptist Church in West Memphis, AR. He was an ordained deacon and had numerous volunteer leadership positions in his churches. He was active in community life having served as Mayor and Alderman in West Memphis, president of West Memphis Kiwanis Club and Meadowbrook Country Club. He was a 33 degree Mason, Past Master of the West Memphis Blue Lodge and first Venerable Master of the Eastern Arkansas Scottish Rite Consistory. He was a patriot and veteran. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps before the start of WWII in 1941 and served until 1946 and was stationed overseas in Iceland. Mr. Rodgers enjoyed golf and first shot his age when he was 78 years old. He loved to play games with friends and family and was a great competitor. Mr. Rodgers was married 60 years to Lorene (Huskey) Rodgers and delivered a well-rehearsed comedy monologue at their anniversary party last year. Besides his wife his is survived by two sons, Clyde Rodgers of Longwood, FL; Leonard Rodgers of Golden, Colorado, one daughter-in-law, Sara Rodgers of Longwood, FL; one sister, Sarah Johnson of West Memphis, AR; three grandchildren; Kimberly Rodgers of Longwood, FL; Christen Rodgers of Apopka, FL; Calley Rodgers of Winter Springs, FL and two great-granddaughters, Victoria and Sarah Rodgers and many fondly regarded nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the education fund for the children of the late Dr. Mark Stephens in care of First Baptist Church Sweetwater 3800 Wekiva Springs Rd. Longwood, FL 32779 or the church or charity of ones choice.
