Mr. Billy Joe Barner , age 75, of Tuckerman died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at his home. He was born April 28, 1933 in Tuckerman , the son of Charles and Covella (Huskey) Barner.
Mr. Barner was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, striving wholeheartedly to please his creator, Jehovah God. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on Jan. 29, 1955, and remained active in his ministry until his death. Mr. Barner was a very kind, meek, giving person. He was always looking out for the welfare of others. He had a terrific sense of humor and always enjoyed making everyone happy. He loved, cherished, and thrived on associating with his family and spiritual brothers and sisters. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Barner was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Barner , Jr., and Jimmy Barner ; and three sisters, Erma Pruitt, Jean Polston, and Mable Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Brown) Barner of Tuckerman ; two sons, Joe Barner and Stephen Barner , both of Newport; two daughters, Leah Wing and husband, Randy, of Newport and Darla Barner of Tuckerman ; two brothers, Jewel Barner of Tuckerman and Paul Barner of Judsonia; four sisters, Juanita Parker of Memphis, Tenn., Oredia Blankenship of Paragould, Hazel McLaughlin of Grubbs, and Sue Milligan of Memphis, Tenn.; and one grandchild, Hannah Wing.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Gracelawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Barner , Jason Linhart, John Lock, Phil Love, Mantel Love, and Phillip O'Guin.
