Mrs. Hazel ( Barner ) McLaughlin , 96, of Grubbs, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Memphis, Tenn. She was born Feb. 20, 1916 in Tuckerman, the daughter of Charlie and Covella (Huskey) Barner.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a homemaker, and a member of the Ballew's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray McLaughlin ; his parents; three brothers, Billy Joe, Junior, and Jimmy Van Barner ; and three sisters, Mable Sullivan, Ermaneal Puritt, and Emogene Polston.
Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by one daughter, Shirley J. Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Donald Ray McLaughlin of Memphis, Tenn. Joe Dale McLaughlin of Olive Branch, Miss. and Doug McLaughlin of Grubbs; two brothers, Joel Barner of Tuckerman, and William Paul Barner of Judsonia; three sisters, Sue Milligan of Memphis, Tenn., Juanita Parker of Memphis, Tenn., and Orida Blankenship of Paragould; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Ballew's Chapel Cemetery. Friends visited at the funeral home Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 1 p.m. until service time.
