Laura A. Vance died in Eureka on August 12 , 2002 at the age of 88. Born May 31, 1914 in Eureka , she was a homemaker and a great friend to all. She loved to feed the birds and enjoyed spending time with children of all ages and animals of every variety.
Laura had a vast cookbook collection and was a wonderful cook. Friends and family considered it a treat to eat one of her great meals or to go on family picnics.
She is survived by her children, John M. Vance III and wife Sharon of Eureka , Patricia Briggs and husband Floyd of Fortuna, Harry P. Vance II and wife Evelyn of Ukiah, Nancy Sundburg and husband Victor of Eureka ; ten grandchildren, Harry Vance III, Pamela Vance , Penny King, Ronald Briggs, John Vance IV, Wendy Pitzner, Jannie Johnson, Jennifer Evans, Shelly MacDonald, Janet Swanson and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Vance II and grandson, Dean Vance .
Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Pierce Chapel, 707 H St., Eureka on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dean Lindquist officiating. Encryptment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Eureka .
Visitation will be at Pierce Chapel on Friday, August 16, 2002 from 1 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
