He was a veteran of the US Army active in Ammaus & the Promise Keepers. He had worked with the Apollo Space Program prior to entering the health care field. He was an administrative supervisor of nursing at Blount Memorial Hospital where he had been employed for the past 25 years member of Carpenter's Campground United Methodist Church.
