RET. age 89 , of Knoxville , passed away on Wednesday , January 25 , 2012 . Howard was born on May 3, 1922 to the late Luther Barb Minge and Bertha Robbins Minge. He was a member of Ball Camp Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Air Force and Tennessee Air National Guard 134th Refueling Group after 37 years of service as a pilot, including flying with Strategic Air Command (SAC). Howard was also preceded in death by brothers, Oliver (O.B.) Minge and Luther Carl Minge. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Ellenburg Minge; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Mohyi Abu-Zeid, Wanda Baucus, Joan Minge, Caroline and Tim Russu and Pam and Peter Murray; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Minge; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Rineard and Velma and Ray Jenkins; sister-in-law, Ann Minge and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 7:00 PM Friday Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Dr. Ed Sunday-Winters officiating. The family and friends will meet at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel by 1:30 PM Saturday and proceed to Edgewood Cemetery for a 2:00 PM interment service.
