MORNINGSTAR, MR. NORMAN E. Shelby, MI Mr. Morningstar , age 86 , son of James and Minnie (Near) Morningstar passed away at his home on Apr. 10, 2008 after a brief illness with cancer. He was born March 4, 1922. Norman lived all of his life in the Shelby area with the exception of time served with the Army Air Corp where he had two years of college and was trained as a tail gunner for a B-52. He was a farmer, trucker, Shelby Lumber Co. employee, field mgr. for Royal Canning Co., and an employee of Peterson Farms. He was a member of Shelby Congregational Church. Norm was a Free Mason on demit status. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion where he was a chef for the fish dinners for many years. Norm enjoyed walking, bicycling, camping, traveling out west as well as Branson and Renfro Valley. He also enjoyed camping at White Pines Campground and listening to the country music jamboree. His sense of humor, fairness in all that he did, and his smile will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Butler); son , Dennis (Katie) Morningstar of Three Rivers; daughter, Lois (John) Bishop of Cadillac; grandchildren, Dallas Bishop, Sabrina (Christopher) Lilla and Melonie Morningstar ; brother-in-law, Ralph Fox; sister-in-law, Denise Morningstar . He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Isabel Fox and brother, Robert Morningstar . Visitation will be held Mon., April 14, 10 am at the Shelby Congregational Church.
