Mollie was raised in rural Oceana County, graduated from Shelby High School and Western Michigan University (1952), resided in Quebec, Canada for 30 years and retired with husband, John to Melbourne, Fla. in 1987. She will be deeply missed by husband, John Gordon Lees; three children, Mary Elizabeth and husband, Bob Murphy of Melbourne, Kathleen Gwen and husband, Andrew Cole of California and Jonathan Butler Lees of Cary. N.C.; four grandchildren and a sister, Mary Morningstar and husband, Norman of Shelby. Mollie taught elementary school in Michigan, Northern Quebec and suburban Montreal, and enjoyed working in retail services. Mollie was a life-long bridge maven (bronze master), had a strong love for home carpentry, and a nose for real estate. She enjoyed her book club and was active in Melbourne Unitarian Universalist circles. Mollie is remembered for generously providing a helping hand to people in their times of need. A memorial service and reception was held Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Melbourne Village Hall, 355 Hammock Rd., Melbourne Village, 32904.
