(Pat) Sword , born July 1947 in Jonesville, passed away Dec. 20, 2007, at the age of 60. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968, serving on the battleship USS Hawkins and as a Sea Bee in the Republic of South Vietnam. He retired from McDowell County Hospital in Marion, N.C., where he worked as a respiratory therapist. He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Ruth Livesay Sword ; and two brothers, Robert H. Sword and Harold E. Livesay. Surviving are: his brothers: Preston (P.C.) Sword and wife, Lurlie of Jonesville, Va., Douglas M. Sword and wife, Betty of Marion, Va . , and Kellis W. Sword and wife, Alma of Sneedville, Tenn.; his sisters: Edna Sue Sexton and husband, Howard of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Mary E. Rasnic and husband, Billy Joe of Stickleyville, Va., and Sallie F. Sexton and husband, Dan of Gray, Tenn.; special friends: Shirley Thomas, Debbie Burden Banner, and Kenny and Stacy Morgan, all of Marion, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Arney- Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Coryell and Greg Rasnic officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va., with VFW Post 5715 of Big Stone Gap, Va., in charge of military rites.
