BUDDY (ODIS) age 59, who was a friend to all and whose goal in life was to win souls for Jesus, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2007. He was the pastor of Greene's Chapel Baptist Church and former pastor of Smith Grove Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Mission. He was an employee of Knox County Schools for 30 years. Preceded in death by his parents, O.A. and Ada Long ; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Nell McMahan. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; daughter, Stephanie Garrett; grandchildren, Caleb and Lakin; sisters, Carolyn (Fred) Chorn, Barbara (Albert) Jenkins, Peggy (Perry) Price, Marilyn (David) Steele, and Judy Long ; dearly loved nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and friends. Donations may be made in memory of Rev. Long to the Fellowship Building Fund of Greene's Chapel Baptist Church, 800 West Woodland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday at Highland Baptist Church (Babelay Road) with Rev. Lee Chorn officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Pallbearers: Michael Jenkins, Kenny Bales, Paul Dockery, James Price, Marcus Price, Kendall Price, Brandon Price, and Bryan Price. Fellow ministers will be honorary pallbearers.
