Giles W. Caton and his wife Sarah were listed in the 1860 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee. There were seven children in the household: Elizabeth [McMahan], age 16; Redmond [McMahan], age 15; Mary, age 8; Martha, age 6; John, age 4; Frederick, age 2; and Wesley, age 8/12.
Giles was Sgt. in Company M 2nd Tennessee Cavalry.
Giles W. and Sarah also appeared in the 1870 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee with seven children in the household. They were: Mary C., age 18; John M., age 14; Frederick S., age 12; West G., age 10; Henry B., age 7; Giles M., age 5; and James D. L., age 3.
In 1880 Giles W. and Sarah Caton were listed in the Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee with six sons at home. They were: J. M., age 24; F. S., age 22; W. G., age 20; H. B., age 18; G. M., age 15; and J. L. age 13.
Giles W. Caton died in the 13th district.
