Charles "Chief," "Chuck" Waddell , age 63, of Maryville, departed this earth on Friday, September 9, 2005, at home after two years battling cancer. Chuck was a retried Material Foreman from TVA and was employed with Bullrun Steam Plant in Oak Ridge where he served 30 years and gained a number of friends. Chuck umpired baseball and softball for TSSAA for over 10 years, where he devoted himself to helping youth. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Louisville and a Trustee and Former Treasurer of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Rockford. Chuck never met a stranger in his whole 63 years of life and will be deeply missed by several friends and loved ones. Preceded in death by: mother and father, Nine Marie and Charlie Waddell ; sister and brother, Ann Colyer and James Waddell ; granddaughter, Payton Marie Waddell . Survivors include: loving wife of 32 years, Shirley Waddell ; daughters, Tonya Linginfelter and fiancé, Darrell Franklin, and Rhonda and Randy Burger; grandchildren, Charles Blake Green and Angel Nichole Linginfelter; mother-in-law, Bertha Blair , all of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Lipe of Morristown, Paulette and David Nelson of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Tammy Mitchell and husband Danny of Rockford; special nieces and nephews, Pam Sturm of Morristown, Patricia Null of Arkansas, Danny and Larry Leonard of Morristown, David "Hoot" Nelson of Knoxville, Darrell Tindell of Maryville, Teresa Harris of Maryville; several great-nieces and nephews. With deep appreciation, we would like to thank all of the caregivers and friends who have shown so much love and compassion through this time in our lives. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2005, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with David Bayless officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at Laurel Bank Church Cemetery.
