Jackie Ray Winters, age 69, passed away on July 25, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He retired from the Aluminum Co. of American after 40 years of service. He formerly served as a volunteer Chaplain at Blount County Sheriff’s Dept. and in the jail ministry. He served as a Deacon at Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. He especially loved to help teach the Sunday school class for special needs adults at Dotson Memorial. He spent years volunteering at Maryville Little League and formerly served as president of the league. He also helped organize and coached at Maryville Biddy League. His true passion was spending time with his family and working in his yard and garden. He is preceded in death by: father, Howard Winters; grandparents, Andy & Alice Belcher; Howard & Minnie Winters. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sarah Bates Winters; children, Jeff (Teresa) Winters, Jill (Brian) Fugate; grandchildren, Lauren (David) Mould, Tyler (Marissa) Fugate, Mallory & Lexie Winters; great-grandchildren, Brody, Macy and Sophia Mould and Brayden Fugate; mother, Geneva Gardner; step-mother, Gisela Winters; brothers, Danny (Priscilla) Winters, David (Cathy) Winters; sisters-in-law, Susie Young and Sandy (Samir) Hakooz; step-sister, Gudrun Mandl; nephews, Allen (Jennifer) Winters and Adam (Carrie) Winters, Brian (Jeri) Winters, Damen Winters, Joe (Jacqui) Hakooz, Jason Hakooz; nieces, Lisa Shepherd, Tami (Bill) Kamarek, Lori Millsaps; many loving and devoted aunts, uncles and cousins. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Services will follow at 7:00 PM at Smith Trinity Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Pat Summitt Foundation, 520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37902 in memory of Jackie.
