Shawnee resident Ovitt V Blankinship, 88, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Shawnee.
He was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Davis to Cyrus and Beeda Blankinship. He served in the US Army during World War II, Philippines, Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was an automotive mechanic.
Ovitt loved tinkering with things and was always "Mr. Fix It". He was interested in trains and their history.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Vera; and brother, Oscar. Survivors include daughters, Beverly and Paul McDaniel and Barbara and Fred Summers; son, Vernon and Jan Blankinship; grandson, Michael McDaniel and Sharla Hutchinson; brother, Alvin and LaDonna Blankinship; and many other loving relatives.
Graveside service will be 1 pm Monday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, in Elgin, Okla, with a Military Chaplain officiating.
