Mayme Evelee Smith , a resident of Wynnewood , was born July 16 , 1923 , in Asher, Okla., to Mamie (Duncan) and Barnie Ross Burton. She passed away Nov. 18, 2009, at Wynnewood , Okla., at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 2 days. She married Walter Smith at Pauls Valley, Okla., on May 20, 1943. She was a homemaker. She lived in Wanette before moving to Wynnewood at the age of 10. Her family moved to Wynnewood in a horsedrawn wagon. She was a member of the Wynnewood Church of Christ for more than 60 years. Mayme raised her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and anyone else that came to her door. She worked as a food supervisor for many years at Morgan's Nursing Home in Wynnewood , and in her later years she was a caregiver to many senior citizens of Wynnewood . Mayme took great pride in her cooking and serving others. Mayme 's greatest joys were making people feel welcome in her home and making sure they were fed before they left. Mayme loved her church family and many, many friends of Wynnewood . She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Smith ; and six brothers and sisters: Jack Burton, Orval Burton, Charlie Burton, Billie Homier, Viola Mae Burton and Rubie Lucile Burton. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law: Sue and Fred Rachel of Wynnewood , Okla., and Brenda and Troy Walters of Wynnewood , Okla.; three sons: Donnie and Vonnie Smith of Wynnewood , Okla., Ronnie and Lori Smith of Wynnewood , Okla., and Rob and Cindy Smith of Wynnewood , Okla.; brother, Jerry Burton of Whitesboro, Texas; 14 grandchildren: Kristie, Erick and Stacey, Misti and Casey, Josh and Shana, Aleaha and Bryson, Jennifer, Noah and Beth, Marcus, Robbi Lea, Logan, J.R., Haley, Dalton and Danielle; nine great-grandchildren: Jase, Lexi, Adison, Jordan, Jaycee, Shaley, John Michael, Eli and Terrance; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Erick Rachel, Josh Smith , Marcus Smith , Noah Smith , Logan Smith and Casey Ryan. Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Church of Christ, officiated by Clint Brown.
