Jimmy Massey, 75, of Ball Ground, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Murphy. He was owner and operator of MCA Communications. Jimmy was a member of the Murphy First United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Wade H. and Mabel Ellis Massey. He was also preceded in death by a son, Wade E. Massey, who died November 12, 2014. Surviving are his wife, Shirley English Massey; a daughter, Dawn Massey Hoard and husband, Spence of Canton, Georgia; and a granddaughter, Ellen Hoard Floyd and husband, David of Cartersville, Georgia. A memorial service was held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. John Davis and Spence Hoard officiating. The inurnment was in Sunset Cemetery. The family received friends from 1-1:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Jimmy Massey to the Murphy First United Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Murphy, NC 28906.
