Katherine Clark Shelton , passed away on Wednesday , April 11 , 2012 , at Mission Campus .
A native of Haywood County, she had lived in Asheville and Scottsdale, Arizona. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Eunice Bradley Clark and was also preceded in death by her husband, Carson Shelton , who died in 1968; a daughter, Marlene Wilson; an infant sister and brother, Evelyn and Earl Clark ; and two brothers, Harry and Kenneth Clark . She worked in hotel and restaurant management at the Battery Park and George Vanderbilt Hotels. Katherine enjoyed canning and cooking and loved going to the beach. She was of Baptist faith and was a former member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Shelton , of Asheville; one son, William T. Shelton , of Swannanoa; two sisters, Mary Jane Haynes, and her husband, Roy, of Waynesville, and Linda Woodbury, and her husband, Bill, of Johnsonville, South Carolina; two grandsons, Tyler Shelton , and Eddie Smith; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Lolley officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church.
