John Samuel Greene, 72, son of the late Hubert and Viola Williamson Greene from Cocke County TN, died August 17rh, 2016 at his home in Spartanburg, after a short illness. He had been a resident of Spartanburg County since the late 1960s. He is survived by his wife Helen Woody Greene, his sons John Michael Greene (Tina) of Cowpens, SC and David Edmond Greene (Sarah) of Roebuck, SC. He had one sister, the late Betty Greene Wofford (Olin) of Travelers Rest, SC and one brother, Bill Greene (Pat) of Buford, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Riley Greene and Peyton Greene of Cowpens, SC and Sam Greene and Olivia Greene of Roebuck, SC and many other extended family members. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 19th at 11:00 am at Greene Cemetery in Hartford, TN for family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 21st at 2:00 pm at Central Church of Christ in Spartanburg, SC for everyone. Visitation with the family will follow in the vestibule of the church. He was a faithful and active member of Central Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to either Spartanburg Regional Hospice of Spartanburg, SC or Southeastern Children’s Home in Duncan.
