Levi Woods was born on November 20, 1931, in Thomasville, Alabama to Brady and Ethel Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He received his education at Alabama Lutheran Academy in Selma, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Thomasville, Alabama. Later, he served in the United States Army, before moving to Detroit, Michigan. After thirty-five years of employment he retired from Ford Motor Company. In 1986, he joined Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Diaconate. Past Master Woods was a proud and dedicated Mason. He was a member of the following Masonic Organizations, Unity Lodge No. 28 PHA, Wolverine Consistory No. 6, Marracci Temple No. 13, Royal Arch and Golden Leaf Chapter No. 14 O.E.S. He also was a member of the United Square and Band Dance Council.
Mr. Levi Woods departed this life on June 10, 2002.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of more than forty-four years, Mrs. Shirley Woods; a devoted son, Keith Woods; two loving grandchildren, Pearlene Campbell and Keith Terell Levi Woods; four brothers, Esau (Lelia) Woods, of Detroit, Michigan, John D. (Louise) Woods, of Thomasville, Alabama, Brady Jr. (Betty) Woods, of Thomasville, Alabama, Walter (Shirley J.) of Montgomery, Alabama; three sisters, Leatrice (William Sr.) McCall, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Eunice Noble, of Thomasville, Alabama and Susie L. Hudson, of Mobile, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, William Haney , of Gary, Indiana, Kenneth ( Bernice ) Haney , of Detroit, Michigan and Neil (Sheila) Haney , of Detroit, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Cora Sue (Lloyd Elliott), of Newport, TN, Otelia Wood and JoAnn Swagerty , of Newport, TN; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Manes Funeral Home and will then go in procession to Gun Springs Union Cemetery for a Graveside Service.
Thanks for showing me how good a person can be. You have shown me love and the way to be. You were my friend, my everything, now that you have gone to a better place, I cherish those tools you instilled in me. You will always be in my heart. I love you Granddad. ~Pearl~
