Evalon “Chop” Carmichael, age 55 passed July 10, 2016 at Physicians Regional Hospital, Knoxville, Tn. She battled with congested heart failure for many years. “Chop” had many friends and was known for her “soul food” cooking skills! Evalon was born, raised and educated in Cocke County. She was preceded in death by her father William “Footsie” Carmichael, Jr., brothers Jimmy Wayne Haney and Randy Maxwell Carr. Grandparents, William and Addie Carmichael and Arlie and Polly Ownsby all of Newport. She is survived by her mother, Katherine Carmichael. Sisters: Brenda (Charles) Reed, Carolyn Goins, Polly Haney, Addie (Gil) Thomas, Suzette Moore, Leslie (Joseph) Benjamin, Mary Jane Mills, Melanie Carr all of Newport, and Wanda Faye Fugate, Rogersville, Tn. Brothers: Arlie Haney, Herbert Haney, Kenneth Carmichael, William Carmichael III, Richard Carmichael all of Newport and Gary (Vickie) Treece, Knoxville, Tn. Her best friends and cousin Yvonne Simpson, Morristown, Tn and Annie Stewart. Evalon was a member of Truelight F.B.H. Church. Funeral Service will be held at Manes Funeral Home Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm. The family will Receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will meet at Gum Springs Cemetery on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at11:00 am for burial. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
