(May 5, 1928 - October 28, 2017)
Alice June King was born on May 5, 1928 and died on October 28, 2017. The following article was printed in the Mountain Press about Alice in the early 90’s.
“June King was born in the area that’s now Great Smoky Mountains National Park. When the park was formed, her family moved to Claiborne County. But they returned to Gatlinburg, where her father built King’s Motel on River Road. It’s still in the family. King has two sisters, three nephews and three nieces of whom she’s fond. But she doesn’t see enough of them. She lives at Sevier County Health Care Center in Sevierville.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Otha King and Mary Elva Trentham King; brothers, Arlin King who was born and died on Feb. 6, 1932 and Dewan Amos King; brother-in-law, James D. Tant; nephew, Mike Kilby.
Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Shirley Kilby and JoAnn K. Tant; nephews Dewan Tant and Darryl Tant; nieces, Lisa Campbell, Christy Moyers and Lara Tant.
June always worked in the family business. She dearly loved all her nieces and nephews and considered their comfort and needs always. June’s family appreciates all the tender, loving care she received from the staff at Sevier Health and Rehab. Especially Nurse, Lisa Branner who June loved like a sister.
The family will receive friends 11:00-12:00 Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville.
Following the service family and friends will meet at White Oak Flats Cemetery in Gatlinburg for the interment with Roger Comstock officiating at the graveside service.
