James Howard Miller (Jim), 68 years, of Maryville, died Sept. 20, 2014, at 1 p.m. at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Jim suffered a massive stroke on Sept. 12, 2014, and never regained consciousness. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hess Lambert Miller of Greenback; and by adored niece, Robin Parrish Watkins of Maryville. Jim is survived by wife of 45 years, Janice Helton Miller of Maryville. Jim's two children are Kristi Miller York and partner David Hobbs of Maryville and James Howard Miller II (Jimmy) and wife Carrie Stiles Miller of Johnson City, Tenn. Jim was blessed with five precious grandchildren. In birth order, they are as follows: Eily Miller York, Hadley Reese York, Wheatley Daye York, James Howard Miller III (Tripp), and Stiles Murphy Miller . Jim is also survived by sister, Mildred Parrish of Maryville. Lastly, but certainly not least, he leaves his much loved four-legged companion, Sophie.
