Eva Ownby Myers, age 84 of Pigeon Forge, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014. She was the last member of her family to be born at Elkmont on May 28, 1930. She was the secretary at Pigeon Forge Primary School before she started her banking career at 3rd National (Suntrust). Eva loved to read and enjoyed making quilts for her loved ones. She was a founding leader and contributor for the Quilt Fest in Pigeon Forge, and was a long time member of the Sevier County Piecemaker Quilting Society. Eva was an active member of First Baptist Church, Pigeon Forge where she led G.A.'s and W.M. U. and served as a Sunday School teacher and the first church librarian. She was also a member of the Pigeon Forge Garden Club, part of the Sevier County Election Commission a volunteer at Pigeon Forge Library and a member of the American Business Women's Association. Eva was a kind-hearted lady with a giving and sweet spirit. Her love for her family was evident, and she was always happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. Eva took great comfort in her faith and relationship with God, and she set a wonderful example of Proverbs 31:10. Eva was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pleas "J.P." Myers; parents Baus and Mittie Ownby; sisters, Stella Clabo, Mattie Pass; brothers-in-law, Charlie Clabo, Lynn Hatcher, Avery Hatcher, Cecil Weatherholt; sister-in-law, Eloise Ownby, son-in-law, John William Cottongim, nephew, Rick Ownby.
Her survivors include:

Grandchildren: William S. Piper and wife Andrea, James C. Piper and wife Amy, Suzanne Piper Bower and husband Chris, Shawna Cronan, Noelle Sutton and husband Jamie, Cory Cottongim and wife Cammy
Great Grandchildren: Caleb and Carly Piper, Jacob and Seth Sutton, Luke and Kody Cronan, and Camden and Jack Cottongim
Sisters: Doris Weatherholt, Edna Hatcher, Agnes Hatcher
Brother: Euel Ownby
Brother-in-law: Paul Pass
Numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved, including, Pat Wright, Denny Clabo, David Clabo, Mike Hatcher, Tony Pass, Jeff Pass, Chris Pass, Dereck Hatcher, Gordon Hatcher, Randy Thompson, Phil Thompson, and Rebecca Ownby

The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Thursday with service to follow in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Joslin and Larry Ogle officiating. Interment 1 PM Friday in Valley View Cemetery with Rev. Dale Ellenburg officiating. Pallbearers with be Randy Trentham, Randy Thompson, Chris Pass, Steve Wright, Denny Clabo, Gordon Hatcher, Dereck Hatcher and Mike Hatcher. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home.
