Imogene Ballard of Newport went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2016. She was a member of the Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church and in later years attended Rankin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy “Neil” Ballard, her parents Burnett Douglas and Pearl (Stuart) Douglas, brothers in law Joe Ballard , Wayne Ballard and Frank Russell; niece, Dawn Smithpeters. Family was Imogene’s pride and joy. She is survived by and was affectionately known as “Mamaw Imo” to her niece and nephew in law Wendy and Eric Ball, great-nieces and nephew Emma, Ryan and Elaina Ball. Also holding a special place in her heart was her great-great- nephew Logan Knight. Other survivors include her brothers and sisters; Marie Erby of Newport, Charles (Sherry) Douglas of Morristown, Jane Smithpeters of Newport, Ella (Wayne) Harrell of Talbott, Ronnie (Phyllis) Douglas of Newport, and Darlene Sisk of Newport; former brother-in-law, Tommy Sisk who was a true friend and brother to Imogene in later life; also several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, especially Abby Provenciel and Charlie Grooms. Family will receive friends from 5-7 on Monday May 23, 2016 with services following at 7 pm in the West Chapel of Manes Funeral Home. Rev. James Seals and Rev. Josh Black will officiate.
