He attended Newport Church of God and was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Maude Shelley ; sisters Ella Mae Crutchfield and Bertha Arnold; brothers Bill Shelley and Opa Shelley , and two infant siblings. He is survived by his daughter JoAnn L. Talton (L.V.); son Jim Shelley ; three grandchildren: Jamie Watts, Candace Elliot, and Anthony Fine (Gracie); seven great-grandchildren; brother Richard Samson Shelley ; sisters Helen Cox, Delores Parker, and Sarah Jane Williams; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Hammontree officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
