She was born on Dec. 9, 1921, in Chattanooga and lived most of her life here.
Mrs. Pettyjohn was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith. At the time of her death she was an active member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church on Signal Mountain, where she very much enjoyed the fellowship of the ladies in her Sunday school class.
Printha was an avid gardener and loved to work in her yard. She enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers, and at one time she was the owner of Riverview Florist in Chattanooga. She also enjoyed bowling, and for years she was very active in the Chattanooga area bowling leagues and participated in many statewide and national tournaments.
For years, along with her husband, Lamar, she volunteered her time with the Hamilton County Democratic Party serving as chairman and /or cochairman in their local North Chattanooga precinct. She was also a member of the Hamilton County Democratic Women's Club for many years.
Printha was a volunteer in many ways throughout her life. She was very active in the PTAs in her children's schools, served her church in a variety of ways, and in her later years was a volunteer at Alexian Nursing Home.
Printha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James Lamar Pettyjohn ; her parents, Shird and Lorena Vick Huskey; and seven brothers and sisters.
