Virgil W. Braden Sr. , 60 , of Lenoir City , died this morning , Nov. 19 , 1999 , at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Braden was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Oliver Springs , the son of Gusta M. Braden and Willie Mae Daugherty Braden , who are deceased. He worked as an ironworker and a training instructor for Morrison-Knudson of Oak Ridge.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs , the Silver State Masonic Lodge of Pueblo, Colo., and the Scottish Rite.
Mr. Braden was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Walls Braden ; two daughters, Judy Snyder and her husband, Waylon, of Knoxville and Brandy Braden Wright and her husband, Bryon, of Oliver Springs ; and four sons, Virgil W. Braden Jr. and his wife, Louise, of Aiken, S.C., Larry Kidwell of Oliver Springs , Wayne Braden of Lenoir City and Joe Braden and his wife, Angela, of Knoxville.
Mr. Braden is also survived by nine grandchildren, Chad McKamey, Dalton Snyder, Taylor Snyder, Logan Braden , Brittnee Braden , Shelby Braden , Josh Kidwell, Justin Kidwell and C.J. Wise; his brother, Gustin R. "Buddy" Braden and his wife, Linda, of Oak Ridge; and by his sister, Marilyn Braden Gilchrist and her husband, Howard "Gil" Gilchrist, of Heiskell.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Butler Cemetery of Oliver Springs .
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
