Nancy Lou ( Hereford ) Barnes , 80 , joined her Lord and Savior on November 3 , 2010 at the Good Samaritan Boise Village. Nancy was born on December 22, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas and Ethel Hereford . She attended schools in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland West Tech High School in January 1948. Soon after graduating she moved with her family to Bath, NY, where she worked in her mother's catering business and as a dental assistant. Later, Nancy moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked at the Phoenix Public Library. She met and married Arthur Barnes in 1958. The family moved to Boise in 1970. She and Art moved to Port Angeles, WA in 1988 and then retired in Payette, ID. She cared for her husband for 23 years after he suffered a stroke. She was active in Girl Scouts, Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel 54, Amaranth and Eastern Star. Nancy was the mother to three daughters and a son, and a grandmother to six granddaughters. She enjoyed being a mother and homemaker, and was a gifted artist and a wonderful cook. Nancy was an avid traveler and visited most of the continental United States, and Alaska. She will be remembered for her witty personality, loyalty to her lifelong friends, and a source of inspiration for all who knew her . She is survived by her son James Barnes of Boise; her daughters, Luann Brinkerhoff of Star, Jennifer Barnes of Payette, and Linda (Doug) Holloway of Boise; her granddaughters Stefanie Holloway, Chelsea Belvoir, Chandra Belvoir, Paige Holloway, Kacie Holloway, and Skyler Barr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Hereford , and her husband, Art. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Good Samaritan Boise Village for their love and care of Nancy . Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M., on Monday, the 8th of November , at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to one of Nancy 's favorite organizations: The Portland Shriners Hospital for Children, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or the Idaho Humane Society. Mom, it is so difficult to say goodbye although we hold close the truth that we will be united with you and Dad one day soon. Your love, support and selflessness are to be rejoiced and applauded and are truly your greatest legacy. We love you dear Mom.
