Arthur K Barnes , 80 of Payette passed away May 12th from complications of pneumonia at Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario, Ore. Art was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Boise, Idaho the sixth of seven children born to Ora and Olive Barnes . He attended Garfield and North Junior High, and graduated from Boise High in 1946. After serving 18 months in the Army he attended Boise Junior College before starting his 34 year career with Mountain Bell. He was transferred to Phoenix, Ariz. where he met and married Nancy, his wife of 50 years. Art transferred back to Boise with the phone company in 1970 and retired in 1984. Art and Nancy relocated to Port Angeles, Wash., after he retired, and lived there until finally settling in Payette in 1993. Art will be greatly missed by his wife Nancy, son James , daughters Luann Brinkerhoff, Jennifer Barr, and Linda Holloway (Doug); six granddaughters, Stefanie, Chelsea, Chandra, Paige, Kacie, and Skyler; and his sister Gladys of Seattle, Wash. Art was challenged by many health problems during his later years and always made the best of the situation. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and loved to read and learn, particularly about history and aviation. The family wishes to express a special 'Thank you' to the nursing staff at Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario for their care and compassion during Art's final days. Memorial donations may be made in Art's name to the charity of your choice. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at the Idaho States Veterans Cemetery.
