LAMBERT, HAZEL WALLACE (Mrs. Homer A. Lambert ) - Alcoa, TN, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. She was 92 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by: her children, Jo Ann L. Brown of Niceville, FL, Harold G. Lambert of Madison, MS., Carolyn L. Lambert , of Atlanta, and Jane L. West of Maryville, TN grandchildren, Kathy Kagley, Melinda Best, Walt, Barbara and Kent West Kim and Kent Lambert , Amy Bloomer Carol Wicks, Kay Loy, Liz Harless-Johnson Scott Brackett, Jeanne Perry, Elaine Anton Mark Lambert , Tracy Allenburg, Laura Smith granddaughter-in-law, Leanna Millard daughters-in-law, Norma Lambert , Rosemary Whitehead, and Judy Lambert son-in-law, Jon Brown 19 great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death: by her husband, Homer A. Lambert son, Wallace Lambert daughter, Linda Harless grandchildren, Roger Harless and Hugh Wallace Lambert brothers and sisters, Anna Ruth DeFoe, Robert Wallace, Josephine Crowell, twin sister Helen Sharp, Mary Ella Wallace, Marvin Wallace, Hugh Wallace, and Carolyn Fleetwood. A native of Andersonville, TN, and the daughter of the late J. Shields and Nora Wallace, Mrs. Lambert and her twin sister attended Lincoln Memorial University on basketball scholarship. She later attended the University of TN and was a young teacher in the Anderson County School System when she met her future husband, whose family were stone contractors on the TVA Norris Dam Project. Mrs. Lambert moved to Blount County in 1939, when she and Mr. Lambert built their home on their Big Springs Road farm. Mr. Lambert and his brothers owned and operated Sam Lambert & Sons, Inc. Quarry on Duncan Pike. Two years after Mr. Lambert 's sudden death in 1956, Mrs. Lambert sold the Big Springs home and farm and purchased her home on Springbrook Road in Alcoa, where she resided until Dec. of 2004. She was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church and previously Big Springs Presbyterian Church. For several years, she served as president of the Friendsville PTA, was active in the Friendsville Band Booster Club and vigorously supported her daughter Linda's high school basketball team. She was a retired teacher with the Blount County School System and was active in Blount Memorial Hospital volunteer work and the Lady Vols Booster Club. Memorial services will be held at Big Springs Presbyterian Church 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 14, 2006. With Rev. Tom Gilliland officiating. A private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Big Springs Presbyterian Church, 115 Meadow Road, Friendsville, TN 37737.
