Jack Richard McCutchan, age 81 of Gatlinburg, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan. Jack was born in Canton, Missouri, but moved with his family to Gatlinburg in the early 1930’s.
Throughout the years, he was actively involved with the ongoing development of the tourism industry in Gatlinburg, where he established and operated several businesses including McCutchan’s Candies and McCutchan’s Brass Lantern Restaurant. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, an avid golfer, a charter member of the Gatlinburg Country Club and the local Elks Lodge, and a former board member of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Edna McCutchan, and siblings Henrietta Huff, Lucile Woodworth, and Jerry McCutchan.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his:

Daughters: Diane Pappas and husband Sam of Knoxville; Marsha McConnell and husband David of Maryville; Michelle Haney and husband Jack of Knoxville; Joy Arthur of Gatlinburg; Ann Beiter of Kentucky
Sons: F.B. Mack of Atlanta; Ronnie McCutchan of Gatlinburg; Jack “Alex” McCutchan of Gatlinburg

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gatlinburg.
Funeral mass 1 PM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gatlinburg with Father Phillip Thoni officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, with a Rosary service at 8 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
