Larry Alan Owenby , 63 , of Andrews died Friday , September 10 , 2010 in an Asheville VA hospital. He was a native of the Nantahala Community. Larry had worked for Wells & West before joining the Navy in 1970. He was a licensed plumber and general contractor. In 1989, he went to work for Ingles where he became store manager while working throughout the North Georgia and Western North Carolina supermarkets. Larry was of the Christian faith.
He was the son of Mary Ivadean Ledford Owenby of the Nantahala Community and the late Warren G. Owenby .
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Jennifer Nikole Owenby of Andrews ; a son, Darby Lee- Alan Owenby and wife, Kelly of Eufaula, AL; a sister, Paula Owenby Cochran and husband, Steve of Nantahala; a brother, Jackie Warren Owenby and wife, Darla of Murphy; and two grandchildren, Bailey and Molly Grace.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday , September 17 in the Briartown Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Penley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Larry Alan Owenby to the Charles George VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28805.
