The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Mangus Brumbaugh, age 72 of Hiawassee who passed away surrounded by the love of her family at her home on Monday, June 24, 2013.
Henrietta Mangus Brumbaugh born November 26, 1940 in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia to Willliam M. and Thelma Jenkins Mangus.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert H. Mangus, Jack E. Mangus and Thomas D. Mangus, all from Clearwater, Fl. Also preceded in death by a baby William Frank Hayzlett and a step son, Timothy Paul Brumbaugh.
She is survived by her loving husband Eugene “Gene” of Hiawassee; a son Jeffrey (Tamara) Hayzlett of Sioux Falls, S.D. and New York, N.Y; a daughter Susan (Michael) Nutt of Elizabethtown, KY and a son William (Jennifer) Hayzlett of Loganville, Ga. Survived by step children David (Margie) Brumbaugh, Bradenton, FL; Christopher (Shiela) Brumbaugh, Port St. Joe, FL and Melissa (Chris) Brumbaugh-Sudduth, Young Harris, GA.
She also is survived by four grandchildren: Lindsey Hayzlett, New York, NY; Tyler (Justina) Hayzlett of Sioux Falls, SD; Erin Langdon, New York, NY and Zachary Puckett, Elizabethtown, KY. She is also grateful for sharing her life with five step grand children: Kristy (Scott) Webb, Sevierville, TN; Ariel Brumbaugh, Ann Arbor, MI, Benjamin Brumbaugh, Tucson, AZ, Eric Brumbaugh, Port St. Joe, FL and Evan Brumbaugh, Port St. Joe, FL; two step great grand children Bryan and Kelley Webb, Sevierville, TN.
Henrietta is also survived by one brother Joe (Barbara) Mangus of Largo FL; four nieces Roberta, Tammy, and Missy Mangus of Largo, FL and Nancy McCarthy of Floral City, FL; and one nephew Jack Mangus of Chapel Hill, NC.
Henrietta and Gene previously lived in Perry, GA before moving to Hiawassee, GA in 1983, a town they fell in love with and made their home together. She worked in the real estate industry with Gene as part owners of Hiawassee Realty and then Re/Max Hiawassee Realty and selling the business in 1994. They were very active in the community until their retirement, then enjoyed traveling by spending time on the road in their motor home and visiting their other homes in Florida and Michigan. Henrietta was a Field Editor for TASTE OF HOME magazine for the past ten years.
She is a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, where services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28 with Dr. Benny Pate officiating. Visitation will occur at the Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Donations may be made to Gideon’s International or the building fund of the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church.
